Nordic Semiconductor ASA, a global provider of low power wireless connectivity, today reported revenues for the second quarter 2019 of MUSD 70.5, compared to MUSD 71.2 for the second quarter 2018. EBIT was MUSD 4.3, compared to MUSD 5.7 in the second quarter 2018. Bluetooth revenues for the second quarter 2019 amounted to MUSD 56.0, up from MUSD 52.3 from the second quarter 2018. The increase is mainly due to new designs going into production. Net profit after tax was MUSD 3.8, compared to MUSD 4.3 in the second quarter 2018. “Revenue is unchanged from last year, however we exit the second quarter with a record high three digit backlog and several global Tier 1 customer designs. We have passed certification milestones on our nRF91 product and ended the quarter with a rock solid 43% market share in Bluetooth design certifications” says Svenn-Tore Larsen, CEO of Nordic Semiconductor ASA. Based on the current backlog, guidance for Q3 2019 revenue is MUSD 78-83. Nordic maintains its gross margin of around 50% for Q3 2019. Due to deferral of some investments, Capex in Q3 2019 of MUSD 4-5. Nordic expects medium-term normalized annual growth rates of 20-30% for our Bluetooth business. For proprietary we expect another quarter of more than single digit percentage decline due to a tough comparable in Q3 2018. For cellular IoT, we expect revenue to pick up during the second half given the positive events related to the product during Q2 2019.
