Sebes, Romania – December 1, 2023 – Yesterday marked an important milestone for Romania and for Europe as the country´s DRS (deposit return system) went live. The initiation of the national DRS has been celebrated this week as Mircea Fechet, the Minister of Environment of Romania, toured Envipco's state-of-the-art production plant in Sebes. His endorsement for the implementation of the DRS in Romania underscores the significance of supporting local initiatives.

Minister Fechet expressed his support for the DRS implementation, stating, "The implementation of the Deposit-Return System in Romania is about to start, and it is very important to support this effort with these RVMs produced locally. I congratulate Envipco for the way they contribute to the recycling momentum, and I encourage as many companies as possible to follow this example of best practice. Investments such as the Envipco factory in Sebes are of great importance for the Romanian economy, with major impact, horizontally, in the Romanian industry."

Romania is the most recent country in Europe launching a national DRS to secure the efficient collection of empty beverage containers, thereby meeting EU targets for recycled material content in beverage containers and targeted recovery rates besides reducing litter and reducing environmental impact. Envipco has landed significant wins in the Romanian market with RVM deliveries to major retailers across the country, anchoring the company´s target of +30% market share in new markets. Envipco is encouraged about the next wave of market opportunities in Romania as municipalities and local retailers secure collection capacity to meet DRS requirements. 

Envipco has over the last years built a significant market position in new European markets and is positioning for the anticipated rollout of DRS in a string of new markets in years to come. The company continues to deliver sizeable wins and is anticipating continued revenue uplift in the final quarter of 2023 and beyond. Near term Romania, Greece and Hungary are expected to be key growth drivers, which together with the announced agreement in Ireland builds increased comfort for further growth in 2024.
