Detection Technology launches X-Tile HS for high-speed rotating and static CT systems
Detection Technology Plc press release 4 November 2026 at 10:00 (EET)
Detection Technology, a global leader in X-ray detector solutions, today announced the launch of X-Tile HS, a high-speed, four-side tileable computed tomography (CT) detector module. It enables CT manufacturers to build detector configurations for rotating and stationary CT systems from a single standard building block. Expanding the established X-Tile series, X-Tile HS combines four-side tiling, high speed, wide dynamic range, low noise, and low power consumption in a compact module, enabling flexible system scalability.
X-Tile HS supports CT systems from value-segment 32-slice scanners to high-slice clinical and cardiac systems with 64 to 256 slices and beyond, as well as emerging stationary multi-source CT systems. Because one module type covers all these configurations, manufacturers can expand their CT portfolio without developing a dedicated detector module for each system, reducing development effort and accelerating time-to-market.
At the core of X-Tile HS is its true four-side tileable architecture. Each module provides 512 channels in a 16 × 32 pixel configuration and can be tiled in both axial and transaxial directions. A uniform 1.12 mm (Z) × 1.06 mm (X) pixel pitch across module boundaries minimizes inactive areas, supporting flexible detector geometries and clean projection data for image reconstruction.
Configurable integration times from 50 µs to 1.6 ms cover both rotating-gantry protocols and the short X-ray pulses of stationary multi-source CT systems, with linear response maintained down to 50 µs. On-module 24-bit digitization provides a 121 dB dynamic range, capturing signals across widely varying attenuation levels within the same projection. Combined with a medical-grade gadolinium oxysulfide (GOS) scintillator and backside-illuminated (BSI) photodiode technology, X-Tile HS is designed for high signal-to-noise performance and low-dose medical imaging.
“X-Tile HS gives CT manufacturers one detector platform for different scanner architectures and applications. From whole-body and high-speed cardiac CT to image-guided radiotherapy, compact and mobile CT, and emerging stationary CT systems, it helps customers reduce detector development effort and accelerate system integration,” said Jiang Mingmei, Product Manager at Detection Technology.
With a typical power consumption of 0.65 W per tile, X-Tile HS keeps thermal load low, simplifying detector cooling and heat management. At just 11.35 mm high, the compact module also makes efficient use of radial space inside rotating CT gantries, while mounting and alignment features support accurate positioning and anti-scatter grid alignment.
“X-Tile HS supports two system integration approaches. Manufacturers with their own readout electronics can use X-Tile HS as a standard detector module or combine it with Detection Technology’s X-Tile HS DAS. For manufacturers seeking a complete signal path from detector to host, Detection Technology’s scalable, modular AIDA platform integrates detector modules, data acquisition, data combining, and software tools into a single solution designed to reduce development effort and integration risk.”
Detection Technology will showcase X-Tile HS, X-Tile HS DAS, and AIDA, its all-in-one CT detector system, at RSNA 2026 in Chicago, USA, from 29 November to 2 December 2026. The solutions will be on display in South Hall Level 3, Stand 1353.
