Nordisk Bergteknik has signed a contract for rock handling services related to the construction of the new sorting plant in Malmberget, Gällivare municipality, through the main contractor NCC. The assignment includes drilling, blasting, as well as rock reinforcement and stabilization works for approximately 400,000 cubic metres of rock for roads, levelled areas, and buildings.
The new sorting plant is part of LKAB's investment of approximately SEK 6 billion and is being built to strengthen production capacity and meet future requirements in terms of environment, technology, and working environment. The facility will cover an area of approximately 24,000 square metres and is designed to handle an additional 7-8 million tonnes of crude ore.
The project includes several rock engineering activities carried out in close collaboration between two of the Group's subsidiaries, with specialist expertise in both blasting and rock reinforcement.
