Verisec expands into the Adriatic region through the acquisition of Alfatec
Stockholm, Sweden and Zagreb, Croatia – 26 October 2026 – VERISEC, has acquired ALFATEC Group d.o.o., a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions for mission-critical data management.
Alfatec was founded in 1990, in Croatia, and has been a family-owned company up until the acquisition. The company has grown to become a leading provider of security solutions, including cryptography and data management, in the Adriatic region serving banks, insurance companies, telecom and public sector with mission critical protection. The company is a member of several syndicates developing AI software projects for European Defence Fund.
Alfatec brings more than three decades of regional market experience, established customer relationships and specialist capabilities in cryptography, data protection and regulatory compliance.
The acquisition follows Verisec’s strategic agenda to expand into new regions with strong local, experienced partners. The acquisition further strengthens Verisec’s position as a leading provider of general purpose and payment specific cryptography, and expands the group’s presence in Southeast Europe. Alfatec also adds new products and capabilities to Verisec’s portfolio, including a strong AI development team, proprietary AI intellectual property, experience in EU-funded defence projects and expertise in managing relational databases for large-scale transaction processing.
Following the transaction
- Marko Kornfeld, part of the selling family, will remain in his current role as Managing Director of Alfatec focusing on leading the company into the next chapter sharing the vision for advanced next-generation security technologies.
- Verisec will have offices and colleagues in eight countries worldwide. The enlarged footprint is expected to support cross-selling of payment and general purpose HSM products, specialist services and Verisec’s 10XPay Payment Cryptography as a Service offering.
- Alfatec will add further technical and market expertise to Verisec’s global operations. Alfatec has, like Verisec, worked with Entrust and Thales for over two decades, and operates a competence centre of certified engineers supporting partners and end customers.
