Lumito reports positive results from ongoing collaborative research projects – SCIZYS demonstrates high sensitivity across multiple applications

2026-07-20 10:30:00

Lumito AB (publ) ("Lumito" or the "Company") today announces positive results from ongoing collaborative projects with external researchers, further strengthening the evidence supporting the Company's tissue analysis platform, SCIZYS. In a pilot project conducted together with Professor Anders Bjartell at Lund University, SCIZYS successfully identified the biomarker PSA in lymph node tissue from prostate cancer. At the same time, research carried out within the framework of the previously announced collaboration with Malmö University (Biobarriers – Health, Disorders and Healing) demonstrates that SCIZYS offers a significantly broader dynamic detection range than conventional fluorescence microscopy, while virtually eliminating interfering background signal (autofluorescence).

The pilot project with Professor Bjartell, announced in a press release on February 3, 2026, aims to evaluate SCIZYS for improved and earlier detection of lymph node metastases in prostate cancer, where high analytical sensitivity is essential for identifying very low levels of cancer-related biomarkers.

As part of the project, Professor Bjartell's research group has provided clinically relevant tissue samples, while Lumito has contributed reagent kits based on the Company's nanoparticle technology together with SCIZYS scanning. Initial results demonstrate that the biomarker PSA can be detected and visualized in lymph node tissue with promising results.

"The collaboration has worked very well, and the initial results are highly encouraging. The images generated by SCIZYS are of high quality and already at this stage of the study demonstrate the potential to identify biomarkers expressed at very low levels in tissue samples. Such sensitivity is a key prerequisite for detecting the early spread of prostate cancer," says Anders Bjartell, Professor of Urological Cancer Research at Lund University.

At the same time, the Company's collaboration with Malmö University is also delivering positive results. The work, conducted within the framework of the Biobarriers project announced by the Company in the autumn of 2025, has focused on evaluating the potential of SCIZYS for advanced cell analysis by comparing it with the established techniques of fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. The research at Malmö University, led by Professor Håkan Eriksson's research group, demonstrates how SCIZYS can be used for high-resolution visualization and analysis of biological markers at the cellular level. This highlights the technology's potential in areas where detailed tissue and cellular characterization is essential, including immunology, precision medicine, and drug development.

"With the SCIZYS technology, I see significant potential in a microscopy workflow where adherent cells can be analyzed directly, without the drawbacks associated with conventional fluorescence microscopy, while providing a dynamic detection range comparable to that achieved with flow cytometry," says Håkan Eriksson, Senior Professor of Biochemistry at Malmö University.

"When we initiated the pilot project with Professor Bjartell, we recognized that detecting very low levels of biomarkers in tissue is technically challenging. We are therefore very pleased with these initial results. At the same time, seeing SCIZYS' high sensitivity and technical performance confirmed in the Biobarriers project provides further support for the platform's strengths in highly sensitive and quantitative tissue analysis. The ability to identify biomarkers present at very low levels is becoming increasingly important in research, drug development, and future clinical diagnostics. Both of these collaborations are fully aligned with our strategy of generating and presenting scientific evidence for our SCIZYS solution together with leading researchers," says Sanna Wallenborg, CEO of Lumito.

Both the pilot project with Professor Anders Bjartell and the collaboration within the Biobarriers project are progressing according to plan. The Company will continue to update the market as additional results become available.
